If installing Mandrake Linux 8.2 onto a hard drive that already contains MS-Windows, make a note of how much disk space is free for Linux to use.

Also, if you have a modem connected to the PC that you'd like to set up during installation, you can make a note of which port the modem is using by looking at the "modem" entry in the Control Panel or Device Manager from within Windows.
